Scott Reinke has served as the Coordinator for Ball State Achievements in the Division of Student Affairs at Ball State University since 2014. He is an avid gamer, and has a multifaceted background in digital media production and usability studies. Scott focuses on finding ways to facilitate student success in higher education using game design and good usability practices.
This focus is highlighted in his work on an experimental retention program for Pell Grant recipients called Ball State Achievements. Ball State Achievements is a gamified mobile app that rewards students for their accomplishments and encourages positive peer relationships. The goal of the program is to increase persistence and 4-year graduation rates in at-risk students, and to disseminate the information to other institutions and educators so they may build gamified systems of their own to promote student success.
