Rafael Brochado is a self-taught game developer, serial entrepreneur, Fulbright alumnus and FIEA Director Fellow from Europe currently working at the University of Central Florida. In 2008 he co-founded one of the largest amateur game development communities in the world. In 2017 he launched the largest online children bookstore in Portugal. He was able to afford his first Xbox by selling beach supplies at the beach in 2004 or thereabouts, and years later he paid for his studies – successfully becoming the first in his immediate family to obtain higher education – by redesigning and modernizing an old MMORPG, bringing it to tens of thousands of new players.
He started working professionally in the games industry in 2010. His journey as a game developer has allowed him to live in four different countries so far – Portugal, Finland, The Netherlands and the United States – and during that time he has been privileged to work on a diverse portfolio of successful titles across many genres, ranging from massive multiplayer online RPGs to casual mobile games and others.
His most recent baby is Not Suspicious, LLC, a US-based startup seeking to position itself as a leader in VR education with its award-winning VR title, Tablecraft. www.playtablecraft.com
