Biography

I am a Clinical Lab Faculty member at Utica College – Miramar, and a nursing professional with approximately 20 years of experience predominantly in the ER/Trauma, Med Surg/Telemetry. In more recent times my inclination has been towards less traditional but emerging vulnerable health care populations and environments including Correctional Health, Pediatric Case management and HIV/AIDS care management of the LGBTQ population. A nurse educator for some 6 years at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, I see nursing mentorship and education as my most tangible contribution to professional posterity. I am committed and passionate about transitioning nursing students into empowered care professionals. I am experienced in facilitating and designing clinical simulations and sim environments. I hold the MSN in Informatics and have collaborated in the building of a 3D virtual Ebola Treatment Center for simulated experience in the management of outbreaks of highly infectious diseases (EVD, Marburg, anthrax etc.) and superinfections. My research for the Doctor of Public Health degree is exploring the potential for effectively harnessing current “screen time” trends among teens as a key health promotion strategy.
