Dan Scherlis is a veteran game-industry executive, now focused on collaborating with scientists to create commercially-successful health games. He is Executive Producer of NIH-CAP-participant “BreatheFree”, a smoking-cessation game supported by a NIDA/NIH R44 award. Dan is also supporting other scientists in developing games using breath biofeedback (for children with cystic fibrosis), and is leading a team creating an interactive balance intervention (for fall prevention).
As CEO of Turbine, Dan established a partnership with Microsoft, and was Producer of the award-winning MMO Asheron’s Call. He was founding Content Director of a mobile-games venture within telecom giant Comverse. At Papyrus Games, Dan led game development and publishing.
Dan guest-lectures at colleges & universities, and presents at conferences including IEEE GEM, mHealth Summit, Games For Health, GDC, MIT Enterprise Forum, and CTIA. Dan holds AB, AM (Linguistics), and MBA degrees from Harvard.
